Last night Varsity Cross Country hosted a 5 school season opener at Catatonk Golf Course. The teams absolutely dominated the field. For the first time, a Boys SVEC cross country team has taken first place overall - beating rival Newark Valley. They also bested TAE, Tioga, and Dryden.

Scoring the winning points for SVEC: John Garrison, Nathan Gillette, Zach Watson, Caden Ruben, and Matt Fitch.

The SVEC girls placed second overall - just 3 points shy of Newark Valley. They bested TAE, Tioga, and Dryden. VERY well done!

Scoring the winning points for SVEC: Emma Haynes, Olivia Secondo, Kristin Baker, Bella Matisco, and Ashley Ellison. A young but powerful team!

Absolutely excellent effort by all athletes! Wish them luck as they face Waverly next week.

Yesterday evening, the SVEC XC Eagles competed in their first meet of the season at Catatonk Golf Course. It was a difficult course and for many, the first race they had ever run. A fantastic effort was put in by the whole team, but a special shout-out goes to Gage Maxwell who not only finished 2nd overall for modified boys, but dropped 10 seconds from a previous time trial. Our second shoutout goes to Madelyn Ellison for being the first modified female to cross the finish line for SVEC. Congratulations to the whole team for a job well done. Wish them luck as they prepare for their next meet
