Any student performing below the median scale score between a level 2/partially proficient and a Level 3/proficient on a grade 3-8 English language arts (ELA) or mathematics state assessment shall be considered for AIS.
All students in grades 3-6 are provided with a daily intervention period. A school-wide student services team will meet prior to the start of the school year to identify individual student needs and recommend academic supports for ELA, math or both. The team will meet throughout the year to monitor student progress.
All students in grades 7 and 8 are provided with an ELA lab (1 period /6 day cycle) and a math lab (1 period /6 day cycle). A school-wide services team meets during the school year to identify individual student needs and to monitor student progress.
State assessment results, previous year district assessments, other measures as appropriate and teacher/administrator observations will be used to determine specific student needs.
